Week one back on the water
It has been a week and a day since we packed up all our stuff and moved back to the ship. The move went surprisingly easy. We had all been packing up our stuff and sending it to the ship a little every day. All of the academy stuff had already been taken back with the exception of one box per teacher. So it made it a lot easier to pack up and leave. Once again ever one came together and helped move boxes, bags and anything else until there was nothing else to move. I am currently in a four birth on deck three; it is an open floor plan. It is really nice to be in there cause it has a kitchen-ette and a couch and is open. It is great right now because I am by myself in the room so it is like a little studio. I am going to be moving into a different four birth once we get to Freetown. We have been lucky on board and have had air conditioning most of our time on board. There was one night when there was no air on deck 3 so I slept in a friends cabin on deck 4. On Sunday I went to church with some other people and then went to the mall to get some last minute stuff that will be nice to have. I came back to the ship and was very pleased to feel the air in my cabin on deck 3. I did a little dance and then decided it would be a good time to un pack and get settled in. Man do I have way to much stuff. We started school on Monday and it seemed to settle in fairly well. I have a classroom now as opposed to a class room that is being used as storage so I taught in a hall way instead. So it is great to settle in to an actual classroom WITH WINDOWS!
The school week was going fairly normal we had the occasional black out from testing generators but it was not to bad. But on Thursday morning we went into the big room in the academy to find a water damage! Fun hugh?!? It had come from a hatch in the ceiling and had falling on to the library desk and all the new books that had not been put into the computer and where on the library desk, and got really wet. As soon as we started to take books off the book shelves and try and get it cleaned up the fire alarm went off. We have to be able to do an at sea muster with in 30 minutes. This one lasted about 40, the whole time just hanging out knowing that down 1 deck the library sat in water. That was frustrating! We finally got everything out of the big room and everything of the wet carpet. It is really frustrating since we had just un packed it and got it cleaned up. We are hoping to sail early this week and have been getting off the ship as often as possible in preparation for being stuck on the ship for close to 3 weeks. It has been great to be back on the ship and settling in to the “ normal life”.
